SCOUT WIRELESSMAN

Log at least 25 amateur radio stations or CB users showing details of date, time, call sign, frequency, readability and location.

Demonstrate how to tune a simple receiver.

Demonstrate the use of CB equipment by making contact with another user and maintaining contact for at least 2 minutes.

Know the more commonly used HV and VHF amateur frequency bands and explain in simple terms how radio waves travel around the world or,

Demonstrate a knowledge of DTI (or in Ireland Comreg regulations) recommended code of practice and the reasons for reserved channels.

Know the International phonetic alphabet and define at least 8 international Q code signals and show an ability to recognise call signs from the UK or near continent, or,

Show a knowledge of the 'ten codes' used and discuss their advantages and disadvantages.
